Oh dear. Another weekend over too soon...
However, it is another Tacky Music Monday - and here to cheer us up as we head back to work is none other than birthday boy Barry Manilow (who, scarily, celebrates his 70th today!).
Here, the campest man never to come out since Liberace performs in an amazingly elaborate and over-the-top extravaganza to accompany his song I Write The Songs. It's camp-tastic!

ReplyDeleteI do love many of the live performances I have seen from him and quite a few of his songs - not to mention his work with The Divine Miss M!
Can't believe he's never come out - even Johnny Mathis did (although not without problems, since he received several death threats afterwards and didn't speak about his sexuality for decades afterwards). Happy birthday to Mr Manilow - who I'm sure is shaking it at the Copa even as we speak (with the cabana boys, obviously...)
It is remarkable that these influential superstars are too scared to come out, but then again - if the death threat story is true in Mr Mathis's case - it just goes to prove what a bastard homophobic place the USA can be, and I am not surprised... Jx
